Keeping Down The Underground
the strokes fans gotta read that Filter magazine Strokes/Lou Reed article. it's up on thestrokes LJ community. but you gotta log in before reading coz the article is locked, meaning only members of LJ can view it.

it's not extraordinarily written or anything but there was a few points in that article i find really really really amusing.
Art, Advertising and the myth of the underground by Mikel Jollett: the title says it all.
i was reminded of my marketing textbook while i was going through this article just now. it talks about the bloody information age, man. INFORMATION AGE! it goes on to say that business is art and art is commerce. and another thing, what was so great about andy warhol? like seriously, i'm not tryna be sarcastic or anything. i really wanna know what was so great about that dead dude. apart from his pop art and all.

if i was a stroke and i was reading this article, i'll feel like i'm a 'product concept' for the music-revolution-craving masses.
