my brother [A.K.A Mr Hawthorn Heights] suddenly digs We Are Scientists, Bloc Party and Maximo Park. three bands which made it to the charts and three bands i didn't like initially. Mr Hawthorn Heights wants me to get my hands on any tracks by these three bands. i refused. up until today when i listened to It's A Hit by We Are Scientists. fine, i'll admit it -they are groovy. Mr Hawthorn Heights has made Bloc Party's Helicopter his messaging tone and putting on Maximo Park's Apply Some Pressure on the stereo when he thinks i'm not around. i've said it once and i'll say it again. if there's something that my brother's on to, you know it's gotta be something hip. the sister, on the other hand, has never been hip. in fact, she's so unhip she loves The Liars' Drum's Not Dead, an album so radio unfriendly one wonders why she likes them in the first place. ans: because Drum's Not Dead is like my panic room. i sit, listen, trip. simple.
