i didn't particularly like New Order till i became chummy with BGII. even then, i was always teasing him about his antiquated taste in music. so 80s, i'd say. until he somehow manage to get his hands on their Get Ready album for cheap. and of course i had to kaypoh kaypoh [me being me]. the story of how i changed my tune. now instead of saying 'so 80s', i say 'eh you got Power Corruption & Lies not'. i was at work today, peeling stickers off bottles when a song came on the radio. i thought to myself: the fella sounds like Sumner only. the feeling that it was indeed Sumner's singing i heard didn't shake off even after they played the next song. it was the chorus that did it ar -i would like a place i could call my own, have a conversation on the telephone , wake up every day that would be a start, i would not complain of my wounded heart. it was a New Order song afterall. Regret from their Republic album. the thing is i'm pretty sure i heard this song before while i was growing up. someone in the family was listening to it. could be one of my father's siblings.
